A hydration habit without the nagging
Track glasses with one tap, keep the reminders to one, and stop treating a water bottle like a boss. A calm way to run the Hydrate habit.

The problem with water apps
Most hydration trackers are built around interruption. Eight pings a day, a cartoon bottle looking disappointed, a notification at 3pm that you dismiss without reading. After a week you turn the whole thing off and feel vaguely bad about it.
A habit you resent is not a habit. It is a chore with a logo.
One count, one tap
In Sweepifi, Hydrate is a Count habit with a target of 8 glasses. The card on Today shows "3/8 glasses" and a big circle. Tap the circle, it goes to 4. That is the entire interaction. Long-press if you want to type a number or change the amount in one go.
There is no streak pressure until the day is over: a count habit that reaches its target is done, one that does not is partial. Partial is shown plainly, not in red.
Set the target you will actually hit
Eight is the template default, not a rule. If your days are mostly coffee and you are starting from two, set the target to four. A target you hit most days builds a streak; a target you miss most days builds a number you avoid looking at.
You can raise it later. Changing the target applies going forward and does not rewrite the past.
Reminders: one is plenty
On Free each habit has one reminder; Pro allows up to three. For water, one is the right number even on Pro. Put it where the gap is. For most people that is early afternoon, when the morning coffee has worn off and the bottle has gone quiet.
Everything else should be a cue, not a ping. Some cues that work:
- A glass with the first coffee, as the first step of Morning Reset
- A full bottle on the desk before the first task, which the Work Start routine already includes
- A glass every time you refill the kettle
- One with lunch, one with dinner, no thinking required
Four cues and one reminder get most people to their target without a single nag.
Anytime is the right section
Hydrate belongs in the Anytime section of Today, not Morning or Evening. It happens across the day, and pinning it to one section only makes the other sections look incomplete. See using time-of-day sections for how the sections behave.
Do not log it in arrears
The temptation with a count habit is to sit down at 10pm and tap seven times from memory. Memory is generous. Logging as you go takes a second each time and gives you a number you can trust.
If you did forget, log what you honestly remember and let the day be partial. One partial day is not a disaster, and the Free plan's monthly freeze is there for the ones that matter.
Keep it unremarkable
This is not a habit to celebrate. It is a habit to make boring. The best sign that it is working is that you stop noticing it: the card is quietly at 8/8 most evenings and you cannot remember tapping it. That is what a finished habit looks like.
If you want a slightly more interesting habit to pair with it, choose something that gives you a reason to get up: a short stretch, a walk to the kitchen, a trip to refill the bottle. How to pick your first five habits has a mix that leaves room for both.
Try it in Sweepifi
Add Hydrate, set the target to something honest, put it in Anytime with one afternoon reminder, and tap as you go. If even that feels like too much structure, start with one glass a day; the two-minute rule is the permission slip.
