Keeping habits with a partner

Partner mode is a private Circle of two with shared habits and a shared streak. How to set it up, what your partner sees, and how to nudge without nagging.

What Partner mode is

A Circle in Sweepifi is a small private group. Partner mode is the smallest version: a Circle of exactly two people, created from the Partner template. It adds two things a normal Circle does not have: shared habits, which you both complete, and a shared streak, which counts the days you both did.

Partner means whoever you share habits with. A spouse, a roommate, a sibling, a best friend across town. Sweepifi does not assume anything about who your partner is.

Setting it up

  1. Create a Circle and choose the Partner template.
  2. Send the invite link, or let your partner scan the QR code.
  3. Once there are two of you, add a shared habit. Both of you get it on Today.

Free lets you join or create one Circle, so Partner mode fits on the Free plan. Pro lets you be in as many as you like and create up to five.

Shared habits

A shared habit is one habit, two check-ins. The card on Today shows both check-ins, yours and your partner's. Each of you taps your own. Neither of you can tap for the other, which is as it should be.

The shared streak counts days when you both completed the habit. Your own streak on that habit is still yours, counted separately, so a day your partner missed does not touch your personal number. It only pauses the shared one.

Habits that suit sharing are the ones that are genuinely joint:

What your partner can see

Only what you share. For any habit set to Circle visibility, your partner sees the name, icon, today's status and streak. They never see your notes or your mood chip, and habits you keep private are invisible to them. You choose per habit.

That line is deliberate. Accountability works when it is about whether you did the thing, not about why.

Nudges, not nagging

A nudge is a preset message sent as a push: "You've got this", "Don't break the streak", "Proud of you", or "Quick check-in?". There is no free-text, which turns out to be the feature. You cannot send a passive-aggressive nudge because the app will not let you type one.

Each person can receive one nudge a day, full stop. Send it in the evening if the shared habit is still open, and otherwise do not. If nudges start to feel like pressure, either of you can mute them without leaving the Circle.

Reactions

Check-ins on shared habits appear in the Circle feed, and you can react with one of five fixed reactions: a flame, a clap, a flex, a sparkle, or a heart. One reaction per event. It is a small thing, and it is enough. Most partner Circles are mostly flames.

When one of you misses

The shared streak resets; the personal ones do not. There is no "who broke it" screen and no red anything. The next day you both do the habit and the shared streak starts counting again from one.

If you want to understand the exact rules, including freezes and vacation mode, they are in how streaks work. Freezes apply to your own streak, not the shared one.

Keep it to a few habits

Sharing everything turns a relationship into a dashboard. Share two or three habits that are honestly joint, keep the rest private, and let the shared streak be a small pleasant number rather than a scoreboard. If you want the group version with friends, small friend groups and accountability covers Circles of up to eight.

Try it in Sweepifi

Create a Partner Circle, invite one person, and share a single habit like Dishes done. Run it for two weeks before adding another. If a tidy home is the joint project, a tidy home in ten minutes a day has a habit set built for two.
